Ashley Furniture to Cease Manufacturing in Mesquite, Texas, Resulting in 266 Job Cuts

Ashley Furniture Industries will close its manufacturing operations in Mesquite, Texas, resulting in 266 job losses as part of a company-wide plan to consolidate production.

The layoffs, detailed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) to the Texas Workforce Commission, will formally take effect by May 7, 2026.

Ashley is working to offer impacted employees positions at other facilities, including its local distribution center.

The affected roles range from upholstery trainees and machine operators to packing employees.

This decision follows industry-wide challenges, with rising tariffs, rising material costs, and declining home sales creating financial headwinds for U.S. furniture makers.

As Ashley Furniture adapts its operations, the company affirms its dedication to providing quality products and service amid shifting market conditions.
